Uganda’s other primate permit costs USD 60 and rarely sells out. The troop lives in the bamboo zone on the lower slopes of the Virungas, and a visit is usually a gentle 1–2 hour walk.
They move fast and constantly, so it’s a different kind of hour to the gorillas — less awe, more delight. Pair it with the Mgahinga gorilla family or a Sabinyo climb and you have a full, uncrowded day.
